It was very exciting to see the return of Lykke Li at the tail end of last year and previous single ‘Get Some’ was pure quality.  That sounded to us like ‘country music performed by an Amazonian tribe’ and new track ‘I Follow Rivers’ is similarly peculiar.  For fear of ridiculous cross genres spiralling out of control it’s a kind of ‘Swedish chillwave as produced by Timbaland’ type thing.  No really!  Once again its quite tribal in its drums and cavernous in its sound but it’s also got this weird crescendo that sounds like a variety of drainpipes being hit with a wooden spoon.  It’s certainly some of the oddest pop music being produced at the moment, but also, some of the best.

Mysterious newcomer The Magician has banged the whole thing into a slightly more conventional 4×4 number, layering over a load of happy piano house and it really works.  Have a listen to both versions below.
